This is my second Saitek Joystick, and I have enjoyed using both. The Evois very ergonomically adjustable, and has lots of programable features. Ibought one that didn't come with a cd-rom, so had to do some downloading.I wasn't very impressed with the speed or usefullness of Saitek's response, but eventually got the programming done. The item is a joy touse, very responsive and precise, I like it.
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT THE FUNCTIONS BY TRIAL AND ERROR. THIS PRODUCT WAS PURCHASED IN MY WIFE'S NAME BUT WAS FOR ME. IT WORKS WELL AND IS A VAST IMPROVEMENT OVER TRYING TO FLY BY MOUSE CONTROL. THE PRODUCT IS A GOOD PURCHASE FOR THE PRICE. I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THAT IT DID NOT COME WITH A CD OR MANUAL. SINCE I HAD USED THE MOUSE SO MUCH I HAD TO MORE OR LESS START ALL OVER BUT IT IS MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE AND SENSITIVE THAN THE MOUSE. IT SEEMS WELL MADE AND I THINK IT IS WELL WORTH THE PRICE.
Ergonomics could be improved but control is great. I use this for X-Plane 9, works great.
The ergonomics need improvement, but everything functions properly. I loved my MS Sidewinder 3D Pro but many new PCs obsoleted the 15-pin joystick port, so I had to buy a USB joystick. The Saitek had the same "swivel" rudder control that I loved on the Sidewinder. The RAH-66 Comanche was reported to have the same type of rudder control before DoD axed the program, so apparently the higher-ups liked the control interface as well.
I don't have to worry about the technology in my hand, it just performs. I use this unit to fly combat missions in Microsoft's various Flight Simulators and in piloting a Mech during Mechwarrior battles. The unit makes the transition easily. Overall, it provides a flexible (programable) platfrom that delivers impressive gaming performace. A great device.
